Stormtrooper
(Marmit)
Seeing pictures of these for the first time made me completely realize what 12" figures should be.  I'm not looking for mere toys when I collect and customize my figures, I'm looking for 1/6 scale replicas.  Nothing comes closer to that than the Stormtrooper action figure kit produced by Marmit in Japan.

True, they're a little pricey, you might be able to pick one up for around 120 bucks.  If you can't get your hands on one of these, the Sandtrooper kit is basically the same model, but with smudged paint on it.  It is most likely possible to remove the paint from it, as long as you're careful.

After opening the box, we see all the materials to make one of the Imperials finest. But the body has to go.  The articulation isn't too bad, but the lack of the upper leg swivel & double jointed arms, and the fact that he doesn't have a head, hands, or feet impel me to replace him with a Dragon.

I also replaced the Blaster with my own custom variation, it has a more correct sight and the missing power regulation box on the side.

You can find it available here:

I did however, have to make a few minor adjustments to the Dragon to help him become
compatible with the Marmit armor.

.
Here are some easy modifications I did to the dragon to help him fit better into his new position.

First, if you want his boots to fit on him easily, I'd suggest cutting his heels down and rounding off the edges.  but rounding them off isn't necessary.

Although quite a few others who I've seen do Marmit-Dragon swaps have reworked the hands, I just decided to pop the Marmit hands over the dragon ones. This can be done by either cutting down the dragon hands till they will fit, or one could simply use the hand stub found inside a pair of dragon gloved hands.

One problem with the armor I found was that the thigh piece will not stay in place and will fall down to rest on the boots unless modified.  To fix this problem  I simply wrapped tape around the Dragon thigh till it was thick enough for the armor to grab hold.
